What makes a "good" location?

For your pictures, local parks can be nice (some are better than others), but sometimes lack the visuals for you to be around. So, look for a few basic elements to add interest to your surroundings and provide a variety as you enjoy your photos for years to come. Look for places with these:

  • Doesn't require a fee or permit. The focus of the images is your connection, and there are so many places to choose from, there is no reason you would have to pay a location a fee to walk around the property that other visitors get to do without paying extra. Check the website or call them directly.
  • Buildings, the more interesting, the better- think castles, barns, old/weathered buildings or sides of garages, brick walls, stone buildings or features, reflective surfaces, and those with good doorways are a bonus
  • Steps or staircases
  • Large and/or long fences
  • Bridges and or long paths/trails
  • Natural elements- rivers, streams, lakes, tall grasses, willow trees, large trees, great landscaping, very large rocks, vineyards and orchards
  • Not a lot of people, either fellow visitors or traffic (I know there will be some, but the less visual distraction, the better)
  • Any other unique elements, such as carousels, farms, things with big color
  • Within about an hour's driving distance from Middletown, since we only have about 60-90 minutes, and I wouldn't want to cut in on our time with the extra drive that I would have to do

Of course, if you have an idea for a location or a theme, let me know. It's going to be great!
