As a wedding venue, the Vassar College Alumnae House in Poughkeepsie is both historic and elegant. As the photographers and filmmakers, we were happy to be at a venue so unlike most others. It’s a guest house across from the always impressive and highly-regarded Vassar College, and is known as the “house of a thousand treasures” because most of the the decor was donated by Vassar alumnae. I felt that it was very peaceful inside.

It was a gorgeous Summer day during a heat wave, and the wedding day for Caitlin and Anthony started off quietly. As Caitlin was getting hair and make up done at the salon, a very calm Anthony began getting dressed at the House. I loved how they incorporated their love of baseball into the event, and his NY Yankee cuff links were the first, tell-tale sign.

It wasn’t long before Caitlin arrived to get dressed. Her Pnina Tornai dress was an ivory duchess satin, with beautiful crystals and beading on the bodice, and a train that went on for days. Because of 90+ degree weather, their First Look was held inside, after which we had few precious moments outside for portraits. It wouldn’t have taken long for Caitlin’s makeup to have melted off.

What a touching ceremony it was in the living room, officiated by one of Caitlin’s dearest friends. Anthony’s sister was his “Best Woman” and Caitlin’s brother was the “Man of Honor”, and among the incredible and sometimes really funny vows, they became husband and wife.

In the hours that followed, the lively cocktail hour made way for the dinner fit for a king and queen, all under the amazing hospitality of Main Course Catering. I thought it was great to listen to the various toasts that kept everyone laughing and full of love for the new Mr. and Mrs. Finally, Caitlin changed into a lighter summer dress, and the dancing that followed had energy like none other.

I would love to visit the Vassar College Alumnae House some day, namely to enjoy all the historic value is offers. I wish all the best to wonderful Caitlin and Anthony, and their lives together.      -Alisa
